"Melt of the glacier. Every year, the same cycle. The glacier is melting. In spring, the glacier river is full of power and we can hear stones rolling bellow the bridge. In summer, the sun goes down and we can clearly see the valley that has been shaped by the glacier in 1860. In fall, the sun goes down and the temperature goes below zero, the river is almost dry. Incredible to be able to capture theses small change over the season!It's part of my project about melting glacier in Switzerland"

Some projects really stand out. This glacier project by Lionel is one of them, still a work in progress with Pucks out capturing the sun now, we're really excited to see the final collection of these images.

This two year exposure dropped our jaws! From the sun through the trees and the reflections off parked cars we can't deny it's beautiful.

Through being pregnant and having a now one year old I have a Solarcan that's been basking in the sun for 2 years.

"This is a 6-month long exposure photo taken with the Solar Can Puck. I aimed it facing south on the beach of the St. Croix River to capture the sun's path each day from December 26, 2023, to June 26, 2024. I intentionally exposed this photo from the winter solstice to the summer solstice to capture the sun's lowest and highest paths in the sky."

We think this Puck capture is pretty cool (especially the reflections in the river) and it seems the Minnesota State Fair agreed with us; accepting it into their Fine Arts Exhibition and earning an honourable mention for photography.

"I see this is the 1st Solarcan photo from Hungary!!! :) It was installed on the balcony of our summer house by the lake Balaton. Installed at the beginning of June and taken down on the 8th of Nov. Scanned at the Lab4art in Budapest (they were quite surprised but really amused by this ;) )"

Hajnalka managed to get the first capture on the map for Hungary with these gorgeous pink and orange sun trails. There's still a few places on our World Map that haven't been captured for those of you who want a challenge.

It's great to see how people experiment with Solarcan. This Puck was up for a year but captured only four solar trails, with John only exposing it on the Solstices and Equinoxes.

"This can was spun around by a curious person somewhere between the 1.12.22 and 11.12.22 causing the original solar arc to move. I then moved it back to its original position (not quite) for its final week before being taken down, which caused the third solar arc to be made. The Neolithic stones are visible beneath the low winter sun's path."

We love getting submissions from Hannah and even with a curious person this capture is great. We've also included some of their other captures and you can check our World Map for more too.

Douglas placed his reused Solarcan within a sculpture in a tree at The National Art School in Sydney. We love the way the shape of the sculpture fills the frame with a bright band of sunlight passing through and the orange fogging finishes it off beautifully.

"1.5 year exposure over looking veggie plots and front of house. Slightly pitted due to the elements or cosmic rays?!"

These dots have appeared on a number of results and it's really quite cool. Mostly because, even after taking to the paper manufacturer, we're not certain why they appear. The most likely explanation seems to be environmental; a mix of heat and moisture. It's pretty exciting when the unexpected happens.

"A reused Solarcan, so a bit of water damage to the paper, but I quite like it. Interesting how the trampoline looks tilted from the distortion. This location only gets morning light, but I love the detail in the buildings that a 1 year exposure gives."

We agree that the water damage is pretty cool, personally I love the reflections in the windows.

"Installed on the roof of my house on the day we got the keys. Left in place for all the time we spent renovating the place. Stopped capturing [...] the day we moved in. The can was left in storage (pinhole closed and in unused drawer) for almost a year as I completely forgot about it."

This is the biggest announcement in photography since Henry Fox-Talbot showed the world his Oriel windows... (well, we think so.)

Over the last 8 years we have seen and shared countless incredible stories from people around the world. Many of these images are featured in our ever-evolving instruction booklet or Instagram feed.

And so today we are proud to share that we are introducing the Solarcan Superuser program.

Starting next week, we will be putting a focus on a Solarcan user who has gone above and beyond the call of duty and created something incredible with a Solarcan or Puck. They will be featured on a special page on the Solarcan website.

And here's the best bit! If you are lucky enough to be chosen you will receive the rarest of gifts:

Honestly, this is god tier bragging rights.

This fabulous shot was captured by @owlturbot with Solarcan production number 34,900! He calls the shot Sussex sun and here's what he had to say about it:

"My first attempt with the Solarcan, taken from the corner of our house and looking up the street. The Solarcan was installed onto a drainpipe, but I think it moved position slightly at some stage during the year so the houses aren't fully sharp."

We think it's brilliant, Phil. A full year of sun preserved into a single image. Simply AMAZING!

A breathtaking Solarcan capture by Erin Pinhasov, who shared the following with us via the submission page:

“It’s my fifth solargraph with a Solarcan, this time I was curious to see how would it work with a shiny object. Fortunately, there is a huge statue near my office which had the potential to fulfill my desire… This is a 6 month summer capture, started on 21/June/2024. Due to the relatively high angle of the sun around here I re-built a tilted mounting stand in order not to cut the top part of the sun during summer solstice. Turned out to be a strong image, although I was hoping to see more sun streaks on the statue, maybe I need to come closer 😉”
